this post has been a long time coming, it’s about my attempts at making book clutches. back in april I bought two hardcover books for 50 cents each with the full intent on turning them into clutches. I had found a few DIY tutorials but I couldn’t decide which method I wanted to use. so I combined a few steps from the ones I liked and added few of my own ideas too.
for the red book, book 1, I used this tutorial. I used a magnetic clasp because I couldn’t find one that looked like the one in the tutorial. overall, it was quite labour intensive to cut out all the pages. also my book’s spine fell off but that was just due to its age. there was a lot of effort put into this one as you had to wait for the glue to fully dry but I like the way it turned out.
for the green book, book 2, I used this video tutorial. I added a border to keep the shape and create illusion that it was still a book. I found this method a lot easier, I think I finished it within a day or so. but again there was some time spent on waiting for the glue to dry. I still need to add a clasp or a latch or something to keep the book closed. also, it’s much lighter than the other clutch because it’s empty of all the pages. I’m thinking about adding a chain but I’m still not sure yet.
but there you go, summer time crafts are in full swing. I have tonnes of ideas and material just laying about in my room, hopefully they’ll be put to good use soon.
